GAMETUBING'S REVIEW POLICY

Last updated: April 19, 2026

In GameTubing we use a five-star rating system to show much we recommend a game. We believe that this method provides the reader with enough depth and nuance to make an educated decision of whether a game is worth their time and money.

Rating Breakdown

For more transparency about how we rate games, here is a complete breakdown about what each star means:

  • Masterpiece: must-play games that exceeded all expectations and brought something new to the genre.
  • Amazing: incredible titles that stood out above the rest and overdelivered in quality.
  • Excellent: highly enjoyable games that delivered a great experience and we would strongly recommend to anyone.
  • Fantastic: has solid mechanics and design that complements the gameplay, and enhances the experience.
  • Good: fun titles that, while not groundbreaking, still provide solid entertainment. Might lack polish in certain areas but can be worth looking into.
  • Decent: are entertaining throughout most of the playthrough and have something going on even though it missed the mark at times.
  • Disappointing: looked promising at first but let us down in the end. They are still playable but are nowhere near what was originally expected.
  • Boring: not as enjoyable as we hoped, playing feels more like a chore and the player experience is just tiresome.
  • Awful: really unlikable and not worth your time, money, nor patience. You are better looking somewhere else.
  • Terrible: underdelivered in every way, gave a horrendous experience, and we cannot recommend them at all.
  • Unplayable: broken games impossible to recommend. They don't even start, are asset flips, or have too many game breaking bugs to even play it.
NOTE: There is no number system. We do this to provide a clear rating between titles.

What do we look for?

When creating a review, we look for three different things – story, gameplay, and design. But when we look into these elements, we ask ourselves a few questions before we start typing:

  1. Story
    1. Is it immersive?
    2. Are the characters interesting?
    3. Does it make me want to know more?
    4. Does the game give you the right amount or does it overstay it's welcome?
    5. Is the dialogue and its delivery good?
  2. Gameplay
    1. Is it fun?
    2. Is it simple or does it have more depth?
    3. Are its mechanics interesting?
    4. Do the mechanics work as they should?
    5. What stands out the most?
  3. Design
    1. Does the music and visuals complement the game or does it feel like background noise?
    2. Does it fill a more important role than just aesthetics?
    3. Are the animations fluid or choppy?
    4. How does it affect the storytelling?
    5. How is its monetization? (When applicable)

Once we have a clear answer to these questions, we begin working on the first draft.

Do we ever change our ratings?

After placing a rating, it's unlikely we will ever change it. However, if a game goes through some major updates or was in Early Access during the initial review we might revisit it and discuss if we should modify it or not.

Otherwise, the decision will be final.

Do you want us to cover your game?

We are always happy to review more games. If you want us to cover yours, all you have to do is to share your game with us through our official Steam Curator Page.

However, please note that all reviewed games will be judged following the criteria previously mentioned.

Also, sharing a review key through the Steam Curator System doesn't immediately guarantee we will review it. We first need to check if it fits with the type of games our readers want to see.
