10 Indie Steam Games From 2026 With Overwhelmingly Positive Reviews
This year is full of gems.

This year has had so many great games that it's impossible to count them all. However, a few stood out the most, and their Steam reviews show just how much gamers loved them.
So, if you are looking for a new game and want to be 100% sure you will like it, this list will help you.
Let's begin!

Dead as Disco
Dead as Disco is one of the most distinctive titles to come out this year. Imagine the fighting mechanics of the Arkham titles but with a rhythm system. You attack, dodge, parry, and perform all kinds of moves to take down enemies while in sync with original songs and licensed beats.
About the Game
You play as Charlie Disco. You sold your soul to return from the dead for one night to find out who killed you and bring the band back together to stop Harmony, the ruthless corporation that controls the music industry.

Alabaster Dawn
Probably the best indie action RPG on Steam at the moment. I played it on Early Access, and it's been a blast. It delivered an immersive story, a beautiful world, likable characters, challenging enemies, fluid combat, upgrades, progression, and more. I recommend checking it out.
About the Game
You play as Juno. You are tasked with purifing the world off Nyx, an evil god that has corrupted the land and cut your connection to your guardian deities. As you fight monsters you'll gain powers, weapons, abilities, and allies to help you in your journey.

Far Far West
Far Far West is one of the indie titles that has made the most noise. The devs took inspiration from Helldivers 2 and created a game that shares the chaotic fun you can expect when playing with friends, while also giving you an action-packed experience, mowing down hordes of undead monsters with guns and magic.
About the Game
Build a crew of 4 bounty-hunting robot cowboys and take up the most dangerous contracts from the town sherif. Track down targets, shoot down undead enemies, survive environmental hazards, complete the quest, and collect their bounty.

Vampire Crawlers: The Turbo Wildcard from Vampire Survivors
I was surprised when I learned that the creators of Vampire Survivors released a new game that literally took their previous success into a turn-based deck builder with roguelike elements. What was not so surprising was that it turned out to be another banger and players loved it.
About the Game
Collect cards, build powerful decks, and execute enemies with vicious combos while exploring famililar dungeons in a new perspective. Be tactical or unleash carnage in the battelfield. The choice is yours.

Sledding Game
Probably the most chill multiplayer game you will ever find on Steam. As the game title implies, it's a snowsports game where you pick up a sled and go down a snowy mountain, get into snow fights, enoy a nice fishing spot, unlock customizable items, and hang out with friends.
About the Game
Get together with friends in a cozy multiplayer with proximity chat. Pick up a sled to race for the bottom of the mountain, pick up a fishing spot, and compete to catch the biggest fish, or explore the borders of the map to see who will get kicked by Mr. Yeti first.

Creature Kitchen
Honestly, I thought this was a horror game when I first saw it because it has the same aesthetic many indie horror games tend to have, but it turned out to be a pretty cozy game with some wierd looking critters you are trying to befriend in the best way you know of...with food.
About the Game
Explore the forest and mysterious house to found new ingredients, prepare over 40 recipies for different taste buds, and cook up snacks and treats for your new friends.

Demon Lord: Just a Block
Demon Lord: Just a Block is a tactical action roguelite where you have to reclaim your usurped throne. However, the most interesting part is that the enemies only move after you do, so you can literally take your time and plan your strategy to defeat them one block at a time.
About the Game
You play as the now beheaded demon king. Get your power back, fight off enemies, take down bosses, rebuild your castle, discover who banished you, and seize the throne.

Retro Rewind - Video Store Simulator
While simulator games are always a gamble, Retro Rewind - Video Store Simulator seems to be a safe bet. This game is all about running your own movie-renting store. If you are a millennial, you might actually love it because it has tons and I mean TONS of references to banger movies you probably recognize.
About the Game
Manage your own video store. Collect new releases, organize merchandise, hire & lead your staff, and serve your customers to grow your establishment and turn it into the store of your dreams.

Timberborn
Timberborn is one of the most interesting city-building games of 2026. It has all the features you would expect from a title like this, plus vertical architecture, water physics, and terraforming. You are not just building a base, you are creating a new society in the unforgiving world left behind by humans.
About the Game
Humans are long gone after they turned the world into a wasteland of dry land, burning heat, and polluted waters. However, beavers have evolved, and now they must build a new civilization while fighting Mother Nature.

Esoteric Ebb
I'm not a D&D player, but this game kinda makes me want to try it. This is Esoteric Ebb, a title where your choices and luck decide your fate. It takes elements from the popular dice game to create a story full of endearing characters, immersive gameplay, and hilarious moments.
About the Game
Esoteric Ebb is a single-player CRPG inspired by the freedom of tabletop adventures. Unravel a political conspiracy with your goblin sidekick. Roll the dice in tense encounters. Become a cleric of legends or completely ruin the campaign.
